What Is Home Insurance Appraisal?
If you have an older or unique home your insurer may request to have an insurance appraisal completed on your house. These appraisals are arranged through the insurance company. Ultimately, the insurance company wants to make sure they know what they are insuring and that you are getting the best coverage for your home.
Other times, an insurance appraisal is used for homeowners and their insurance companies to determine the value of the homeowner’s loss. It is not a lawsuit (although it is very similar to an arbitration). It is a process that relies on the expert opinions of uninterested parties – or licensed appraisers to determine a property’s damages.
